What conversion can preserve
Saving a JPG as PNG cannot restore lost detail or remove its existing compression artefacts. PNG avoids further lossy compression, but the file is often larger.
When to choose PNG
PNG is useful for screenshots, text, line art and transparent graphics. If your destination has a strict file-size limit, a photographic PNG may need resizing or a lossy format.
Check the source before converting
The tool shows the detected original format, so you can confirm it is JPG. It also accepts other supported still-image formats. Renaming a file extension alone is not a conversion; UploadMint decodes and re-encodes the image.
